 Ms. Amita Shukla, Founder & CEO, VitaMita is an innovator and entrepreneur focused on discovering and scaling simple yet powerful ideas to better human health. She was a Principal at New Enterprise Associates (NEA) since 2007. She joined NEA in 2003 and became an Associate in 2004. Ms. Shukla focused on healthcare, medical and life sciences, biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, and specialty pharmaceutical and diagnostics companies. She was based at Chevy Chase, Maryland office. Prior to NEA, Ms. Shukla was a Vice President of Business Development at AmiKa Corp. Before that, she worked in the Healthcare Investment Banking Group at Merrill Lynch, where Ms. Shukla focused on mergers and acquisitions and public offerings for biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device clients. She also created an in-depth, strategic report on biotechnology industry dynamics for Merrill Lynch’s large cap pharmaceutical clients. Ms. Shukla has been a freelance writer for a spectrum of industry and news publications and holds ten issued patents. She is an Observer of the Board of Directors of Clovis Oncology, Predictive Biosciences, Proteostasis, Roka Bioscience, Supernus, and Zosano. Ms. Shukla also led due diligence and was an Observer on the Board of CoGenesys. She serves as a Director at Maryland Technology Development Corporation, and is a Member of the Johns Hopkins Medicine Alliance for Science and Technology Development. During her M.B.A., Ms. Shukla led a team that won first place at the Stanford Business Plan Competition for a novel, patent pending cardiovascular device. She received her M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and B.A. in Biochemistry from Harvard University.
